The Iris Fan by Laura Joh Rowland

I was trying to keep in mind that this novel is the latest of the series while it is my first. Unfortunately, the reader does not get much descriptions of Feudal Japan. Nothing about the environment, how the people live in their quarters or any interesting cultural subtleties. You are not transported. It is only about the crime. I am hoping it is due to the fact that this novel is the latest of the series and also wishing that the first is full of incredible descriptions and that it takes you on a real time travel trip.

It is a really good book but even with good intentions, it is hard to do Rule #1 investing. I wish I had a personal teacher to get me going. Also you must love and understand numbers. Not that easy. Now like anything else practice makes perfect. If you gut is in fire then do it.

The ending is too cheesy for me and too expected. And the typical "I don't need a man anymore to be me..." is boring. There were so many endings that would have been fun even if they had made people cringe at the whole idea. The author was too wrapped up in the familiar and expected on that one. That is just an opinion.
Despite the criticism, it is still a fun read.
