Upon second read (June 2024): Even more of a masterpiece than I remember. It’s funny what you pick up on in a book like this that’s so integral to my being and how I think about art and love and summertime, even, when you read it at different points in your life. This year I’ve been thinking a lot about parallel lives and paths not taken and so the end of this book was RLY speaking to me. I just love the way that love is wrapped up with knowing yourself and seeing yourself in someone else in this book. Literally a perfect piece of work.
Fav quote: “I’m like you. I remember everything” is possibly the best piece of dialogue to end a novel ever written.
