Sharp Objects by Gillian Flynn
5.0
Can't believe I had this in my TBR list for two years before finally getting around to reading it! So glad I did. Gillian Flynn does it again, another taut thriller with flawed characters, and keeps you guessing until the very end.
The protagonist, Camille, is relatable and realistic, and a woman with a dark past who comes back to her small hometown to help solve a murder mystery. As the story moves on and we meet the supporting characters, we learn that everyone is harboring some kind of secret...especially intriguing are Camille's mother and her half-sister. The setting is described well, dark and depressing. The writing sucks you in. Found myself turning the pages quickly, needing to know what was going to happen next.
There are explicit scenes of sex and violence, and mentions of self-harm, so just a warning to anyone who's sensitive.
Looking forward to seeing this adapted into an HBO series this summer!
