Magical readathon challenge by @BookRoast on youtube
I found out about their more recent readathon and liked it so much that i wanted to go back and complete them all. This is the first part of the challenge, it is inspired by Harry Potter and quite simple.
The creator is on youtube, goodreads and twitter, I'm simply summarizing everything here because I prefer it. If you're interested in this and other readathons definitely give them a follow, but you're very welcome to join here.
!!! I would also like to make a little disclaimer: I do not support JKR and her ideology in any way, shape or form. I'm not a Harry Potter hardcore fan but i do think this community is now much bigger than the author and I enjoy partecipating in themed readathons, that's why i wanted to create these.
This being said, pleeease be mindful with what you read and where you put your money.
I really hope you enjoy!
NB: the challenges from this year and the last two years are the same, the only thing changing are the prompts. You can choose to do all of them, only one or you can also choose to do the OWLs back to back and then the NEWTs (you have to pass all three years of the same class to take it in the NEWTs / graduate).
------------------------------------------------
The OWLs are the exams the students at Howgarts have to pass at the end of the fifth year, they determine in some way the course of study of the next and last two years of school. At the end, students are required to take exams again, called NEWTs (second part), which will determine their career.
There are 12 subjects in total (some are core and some electives but in this challenge there will not be any distinction), to each subject corresponds a prompt. The chosen subjects will be the ones you focus on in the NEWTs, so choose carefully.
If you prefer to choose the subjects based on the job you want, the author of this challenge very gently provided us with a whole career booklet you can consult to choose which exams you will need.
And if you want to challenge yourself even more, there is another booklet with courses and seminars that will add extra classes (therefore books) to your exams. It does not matter if you pass or don't pass them, they are just extra credit.
There are 6 grades:
- T for troll, not showing up at all at your exams
- D for dreadful, starting but not finishing any course
- P for poor, only one class
- A for acceptable, two classes
- E for exceeded expactations, finishing 3-4 classes
- O for outstanding, passing five classes.
To graduate you have get either A, E or O.
This challenge was thought to be completed in four weeks, but you can take as much as you want. You can pick as many books as you want for each prompt, but you can't read the same book for more subjects.
Personally, I will try to read all 12 prompts but I'm choosing five to focus on. You don't have to feel pressured in doing anything more than you want/can, this is made to push you to read more but it is ultimately just a fun activity!
